warrior diet day 1
I read (and am a fan of) Brad Pilon’s blog and “eat stop eat” lifestyle. I attribute my relatively new found ability to get “hungry” and not overreact to that feeling as a secret to me keeping at a stable and healthy weight for the last couple years.
Some random thoughts:
- I believe there is a finite amount of willpower, and it waxes and wanes for people at various times of the day.
- For me, mornings are a good time to not eat. I rarely wake up hungry and have no problem with only consuming coffee and water in the AM hours
- Evenings are tough for me, I tend to get very hungry or eat more mindlessly after dinner. (note: this happens regardless of what I have eaten for breakfast and lunch)
- I am a very frequent business traveler, which means that almost every week people are plying me with bad food choices and booze, typically dinners
- my travel has ramped significantly, which means more opportunities to slip. this year I have traveled once a week since the first week in January. I have already logged over 130k air miles.
- I have gained about 5~7 lbs from my ideal, and I’d like to get back to my goal
I found it tough to reliably fast for a full 24 hours. Being a road warrior means that skipped meals are a way of life, but you don’t want to skip too much. The stress of travel and the need to be sharp in a meeting does not match well to 2 days without food.
So I am going to try my interpretation of the Warrior Diet, which also has a lot of Eat Stop Eat elements.
No substantial quantities of food except for raw veggies and maybe a small bit of fruit until dinner time. Then enjoy a big dinner, maybe some dessert, maybe some snacks.
We’ll see how it goes.
Weight today: 167lbs
Goal weight: ~155~160
throughout today I have had some radishes, some bell pepper slices, and a small glass of v8. I will probably have an apple before dinner.
tonight for dinner will be grilled chicken (thighs), a salad, corn on the cob.
