4HB slow carb
Been doing this for about a week and today is my “cheat day.” It’s a bit plain but doable. Hard for me to get in the recommended protein amounts. Also very difficult for me to give up my beloved apples during the week.
Even though my lame body fat scale % hasn’t moved for me I still measured ~1” reduction in my largest fat deposit (love handle/navel) measurement so perhaps it is working.
Back next week with more progress.

checkin in
Approaching end of 2010, some details. I am in good equilibrium.
- Weight: ~162
- Regimen: walking almost every day ~4 miles, lifting 2x or 3x per week, ~30 min session
- Warrior-esque diet: effectively one large meal per day, supplemented by an apple or glass of V8, 2 or 3 cups of coffee in the AM

Sprints
I do ‘em because I hate ‘em. I don’t know where I read it, but I have always tried to do at least one thing per day that I really don’t want to do. For some people it’s broccoli. (That’s crazy I love broccoli)
For me its Tabata sprints today.:][:

tabata elli
Tested to see if I could do tabata on the elliptical today. Answer: yup. Brutal. max resistance. Hr was ~170 when I finished. (9 cycles)

still tabataing
some notes:
it really seems like a good benefit and addition to my regular walks and weights
hard to find tabata exercises that maintain intensity (i.e. are not too easy) but also not hard on the balls of my feet (my left foot is kinda hurt right now.)
seems to be MAKING ME MORE HUNGRY. I got this effect from p90x as well. When I go all-out heart-pounding sweat-pouring; later in the day I am famished.

clean n press
front squats
flat bench
Wow. It works. I think I can work up to 8 cycles.
weight: still 165.

Trips and food
Just got back from a 4 days business trip and reunion with friends. Lots of wine, beer, desserts at dinner and such. But only dinners.
Weight today: 165

Early Linner
Family wanted to eat out for “Linner.” I had a chicken salad and some calamari.

And the Warrior Pauses
Ah the best laid plans of mice and men. Who the hell was I kidding thinking I would follow this plan on vacation?!? And… I also left out one detail. It was a CRUISE. Yup, I had never been on one before. Little did I know that you are basically sheep hoofing from trough to trough for feeding time. Good food. So I ate a lot. Mmm. I skipped a few meals here and there but vastly overcompensated with desserts and tea snacks.
Final damage, after 8 days of eating like a pig, +4.7 lbs. Not too bad actually. I will go back on it when I get home.

Warrior Diet Day 7
OK was not exactly strict on my business trip, I had a few salads with meat as lunches and then dinners. So far its pretty simple. I am heading off on vacation for a week and am still thinking of following it if possible.
Weight has fluctuated a few pounds but this morning I still weighed in at ~167. Not surprising as some of the business dinners were pretty opulent.
Energy level and hunger levels are still good. I had a small headache one day but likely not related.

Warrior Diet Day 3
Yesterday was much easier from a hunger perspective, not sure why.
I ate dinner earlier (around 5pm) and that seemed to help. I made an awesome mushroom risotto which was pretty filling to go along with the meat and veggies.Exercise: 1 hour walk (brisk with some running at the end)
Weight: 166.2I am headed out to LA for a few days, not sure how much I will follow the plan but I am going to try.

PS: one thought I’d like to add. This isn’t really a fast at all. I am just not eating “meals.” Snacking on vegetables and a rare piece of fruit doth not a fast make.

Warrior Diet Day 2
OK some observations on day 1
- hunger wasn’t too bad until about 5pm
- I actually thought I was feeling a bit lightheaded around that time, but may have been psychosomatic
- was very grateful and hungry for dinner
- ate 1 more piece of chicken than I normally would
- are 1 more serving of salad than I normally would
- I drank 1 light beer (mostly because I have a ton in my fridge that I am trying to get rid of)
- my feeling of “fullness” was greater but diminished more rapidly and I was a bit hungry again around 9pm (I did eat about 200 cal of snack at that time)
What I ate aside from dinner:
- raw vegetables (probably 3~4 servings throughout the day)
- 1 apple
- 1 handful of almonds
- coffee (~3 cups)
- water (tons. 2.5+ liters)
- 4oz V8 with daves insanity sauce mixed in
So I would call yesterday a success with only a couple moments of “feeling sad because I can’t eat”. I am pretty sure I can do this. Not positive how well it is going to work while I am on business travel, but next week will put me to the test.
Exercise today:
- ~30 min weights
- 1 hour walk (370 cal burned per F11)
Weight:
- 165.2 (yes I know that is not true weight loss from yesterday already)
